This is my current bio:
Daniel Rezac is the Director of Academic Technology at Quest Academy, an independent school in Palatine, IL. In that role, he oversees Quest’s STEAM program, and is developing a STEAM curriculum that grows and develops young leaders of engineering and creativity. Quest is a 1:1 Chromebook environment, but also promotes a BYOD program and supports students using myriad devices and platforms. Daniel is a Google Certified Innovator, also a founding organizer of EdCamp Illinois. His mission is to provide students with possibilities, and to help students realize their unending potential.
Daniel is also the founder and Chief Curator of The Department. The Department is a “social river” for education, that promotes the best education content, events, brands, and educators by providing a curated place for social sharing to collect. The Department constantly sends signals to educators and brands, bringing them together in a community.
Daniel is also the former Editor of EdReach.us, an education broadcasting network that reached thousands of educators each week. Through EdReach, Daniel wrote for, produced, and marketed live education webcasts and podcasts, which covered technology in education, the edupreneur movement, and just about any education category you can think of – especially Apple, Google, and the cloud.
Daniel is still a founding member and continues to contribute to The Google Educast podcast.
Daniel got his start in education through the Chicago Teaching Fellows as a science teacher on Chicago’s South Side. He segued into technology as an applied tech teacher, and then as a technology integrator in Northbrook, Illinois. Daniel speaks at many conferences on the topics of ed tech, media in education, and for years has worked on the planning board for Illinois’ ICE Conference, now as an organizer for EdCamp After Dark.
I’m an educator with a focus. I have a personal mission to take education forward.
I can’t hide my bias. I’m biased toward the innovative, the forward-thinking, and to things that take media and education beyond what was previously possible. You will rarely hear me write negative reviews of products here or on other sites mostly because- what’s the point? I’ll tell you about the good stuff.
I will, however, rail against things that I believe hinder progress or take us backward or that might harm the education system. This is when I get grumpy.
Education in the media is broken, and here, in this space, I’ll do my part to patch it up.
